REALTOR® Park

From 2007 Press Release

Over $2,000 was raised at the February 24, 2008 rummage sale, sponsored by the Lake Havasu Association of REALTORS® (LHAR). The proceeds are earmarked for REALTOR® Park, a new neighborhood park, located off Newport Drive. Local REALTORS® and affiliates donated not only items for the sale, but many gave their time in organizing and manning the event, which was held indoors at the REALTOR® Center.

Initially LHAR donated $40,000 to the project, spearheaded by REALTORS® Armando Contla and Ed Jacobs. The local REALTOR® association has already donated over $70,000 to the development. The 2.5 acre city park will include a restroom and three armadas. Although it is not yet open to the public, construction plans have already been approved.

REALTOR® Park is just one of the many community projects undertaken by the Lake Havasu Association of REALTORS®. This month kicks off LHAR’s annual REALTOR® Olympics, which raises thousands of dollars for the local community. Last year the event raised over $30,000, with the funds going to 22 local organizations, such as Havasu for Youth, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Cancer Association of Havasu, Hospice of Havasu, American Red Cross, K-12, Humane Society and many more.

The general public is invited and encouraged to participate in all the events, beginning with this year’s grand opening, Casino Night. Open to the public, Casino Night will be held at the REALTOR® Center, 2293 Swanson Ave., March 15, 2007, beginning at 6pm. Admission is $15 per person, and will include casino games, prizes, food and beverages.

Other events, which will be held through the month of March, April and into May, will include Bunco, a pistol shoot, mystery dinner, bowling, golf tournament, Texas Hold’ Em, Golf Ball Drop, and the closing party. Join the fun, while helping to raise money for local organizations. Participants will also have a chance at prizes, and possibly become a REALTOR® Olympics’ gold medal winner.
